UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN (UNILORIN) RESTATES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR INDECENT DRESSING

The Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Dr Fola M. Olowoleni, has again reiterated that the University has zero tolerance for indecent dressing on campus.
Dr Olowoleni stated this when she led members of the University’s Dress Code Committee on a campus-wide sensitisation rally.

During the tour that terminated at the University Park, the Registrar said that decent dressing on campus is ‘sine qua non’, adding that the University management is unwavering in its bid to impact positively on the students not only intellectually but also morally to achieve a ‘TOTAL MAN’.

Dr Olowoleni told the students that the University awards degrees to only those who are found worthy not only in learning but also in character. She also stressed the need for students to refrain from all forms of indecent dressing in and around the campus, saying that proper dressing would naturally accord the individual respect and protect his/ her dignity.

The Registrar admonished the students to ensure strict compliance with the set rules of the University as flouting them come with dire consequences, which will indeed interfere with their set goals.

A major highlight of the sensitisation rally was the distribution of leaflets containing the acceptable style of adornment on campus.

The University’s Dress Code, which prohibits indecent dressing of students on campus and in and around Lecture halls, Library, Laboratories, Examination Venues, Seminar rooms, Faculties, Administrative building as well as Vehicles on campus, frowns against unkempt appearances, sagging, tattered jeans, transparent and see-through dresses, tight shorts, short and skimpy dresses, T-Shirts with obscene inscription, wearing of earrings and hair plaiting by male students etc.
