The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been rated high for its professionalism and its commitment to inclusivity.
According to the weekly bulletin of the board, released on, Monday, the commendation was made during an interaction with JAMBulletin by a 94-year-old UTME candidate, Pa Adedapo Idowu, after completing his registration for the 2025 UTME exercise.
Pa Idowu, in his assessment, lauded the seamlessness of the ongoing registration process and how his registration experience has now dispelled his earlier fears, which he had secretly nursed on the possibility of his ever attaining his dream of tertiary education at his advanced age.
While expressing appreciation for the deployment of relevant technology that made the process so user-friendly, the nonagenarian especially lauded the board’s integration of his National Identity Number (NIN) for ease in data collection and the absence of discrimination against the old, the under-privileged and people with disabilities.
He also praised the professional conduct of staff of the board which, according to him, “gave him a sense of belonging through the warm reception at the registration venue.”
The nonagenarian also enjoined the board to ensure the current trajectory is maintained to ensure continuous success in delivering its mandate. He stated that his interaction with the board had instilled in him the required confidence to go into the examination for ultimate success.
In his advice to candidates, he stated the importance of professionalism and contentment as guiding lights in life’s journey. He also reminded everyone of the imperative of not giving up on their dreams regardless of how old they are.
