TETFund 2025 Intervention: Universities to Get N2.8bn, Polytechnics N1.9bn

The TETFund 2025 intervention has been officially announced, with public universities set to receive N2.8bn, polytechnics N1.9bn, and colleges of education N2.1bn.This was revealed by the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, during a strategic workshop in Abuja, where he outlined the 2025 disbursement guidelines.

Breakdown of TETFund 2025 Allocation

Universities: N2,560,562,352.66 (normal allocation) + N300,000,000.00 (zonal allocation) = N2,860,562,352.66

Polytechnics: N1,794,335,731.71 (normal allocation) + N200,000,000.00 (zonal allocation) = N1,994,335,731.71

Colleges of Education: N1,978,428,260.79 (normal allocation) + N200,000,000.00 (zonal allocation) = N2,178,428,260.79

Echono urged institutions to fully utilize their 2024 allocations before accessing their 2025 funds. He also emphasized fast-tracking the procurement process to avoid delays.TETFund’s Focus for 2025. The TETFund 2025 intervention will focus on key areas, including:

1. Infrastructure Development: Upgrading and renovating dilapidated structures in tertiary institutions. Expanding infrastructure for medical education (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists). Introducing alternative energy solutions for institutions.

2. Research & Innovation: Increased funding for the National Research Fund (NRF). Support for Research Meets Industry (Triple Helix Initiative). Commercialization of research outcomes.

3. Student Welfare & Learning Enhancements: Establishment of mechanized farms in select universities. Expansion of student hostels through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Provision of electric tricycles for on-campus transportation.

4. Entrepreneurship & Skills Development: 12 new Entrepreneurship for Innovation Hubs in polytechnics and colleges of education. Strengthening of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. Support for Student Startup & Innovation Grants. Strategic Investments in Laboratories & Security To enhance research capacity, TETFund 2025 will establish: Central multipurpose research laboratories in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt.Three new agricultural laboratories and demonstration farms. Improved campus security systems to address safety concerns. Collaboration with the Private Sector. Echono highlighted the need for institutions to partner with the private sector to reduce reliance on government funding. He encouraged universities and polytechnics to: Seek public-private collaborations for infrastructure development. Improve facility management and self-sustainability efforts.
