UNIBEN ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF 2025/26 ADMISSION EXERCISE

The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin City, has officially announced the closing date for the 2025/2026 academic session admission exercise. This announcement follows the decision reached at the Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) held with Vice Chancellors and other key stakeholders in the Nigerian tertiary education system.

According to the official notice, all admission processes for the 2025/2026 session will end on Friday, 31st October 2025. This directive, which aligns with JAMB’s nationwide admission calendar, is binding on all universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.

UNIBEN Management Urges Prompt Acceptance of Admission Offers
In line with this development, the University of Benin management has called on all candidates who have been offered provisional admission into various programmes of the institution to log in to their JAMB CAPS profiles and accept their admission offers before the stated deadline.

The statement warns that any candidate who fails to accept their admission on or before Friday, 31st October 2025, will automatically forfeit the offer. Such candidates will have their admission slots withdrawn and possibly reassigned to other deserving applicants.

The university emphasized that this closure is final and non-extendable, in strict compliance with the national admission timeline approved by JAMB.

Resumption Date for Fresh Students
The management also announced that the 2025/2026 academic session will officially commence on Monday, 10th November 2025. By this date, all newly admitted students are expected to have completed their online clearance, course registration, and hostel accommodation processes.

Freshers are expected to arrive on campus starting from Sunday, 9th November 2025, to settle into their halls of residence and prepare for academic activities scheduled to begin the following day.

The university urged all admitted students to follow the instructions and guidelines outlined on the official UNIBEN portal and to ensure they complete all necessary documentation before the commencement of lectures.

Compliance with Admission Regulations
The notice further reiterates the importance of following due process in all admission-related matters. Candidates are advised to:

Accept their admission offers on JAMB CAPS immediately.

Print their JAMB admission letters and UNIBEN admission letters for verification purposes.

Upload their O’level results on the JAMB portal if not already done.

Pay all required acceptance and tuition fees through the official university channels.

Avoid dealing with third parties or unauthorized individuals during the registration process to prevent falling victim to fraud.

About the 2025/2026 Admission Process
The 2025/2026 admission exercise at UNIBEN has witnessed a large turnout of qualified candidates from across Nigeria. The process has been conducted in strict accordance with the admission policies of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which prioritize merit, catchment area considerations, and educationally less-developed states (ELDS) criteria.

The University has also made significant improvements in its digital admission process to ensure transparency and efficiency. With the integration of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), all admission offers are now processed electronically, eliminating manual interference and ensuring that candidates are selected strictly on merit.

Next Steps for Newly Admitted Students
Following the acceptance of their admission, successful candidates are expected to:

Proceed to the UNIBEN online portal for clearance and payment of the ₦60,000 acceptance fee.

Upload all required documents, including JAMB admission letter, birth certificate, O’level results, and local government identification.

Participate in the physical verification exercise at the designated university venues once clearance is approved online.

Complete course registration through their student dashboard after clearance confirmation.

The University management assures that detailed instructions and schedules for these activities will be made available on the official website: www.uniben.edu.

A Warm Welcome Ahead

Students are encouraged to embrace the institution’s long-standing culture of excellence, discipline, and innovation. The Vice Chancellor expressed optimism that the incoming batch of undergraduates will contribute meaningfully to the university’s academic and social life.

“We look forward to receiving our new students as bonafide members of the UNIBEN family. I urge them to be diligent, responsible, and focused, as their journey toward academic success begins,” Professor Omoregie added.
