A total of Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty- Three (2,833) graduands will be awarded different degrees at the 15th Convocation Ceremony of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.
These include 2,192 Bachelor’s degrees, 77 Postgraduate Diplomas, 485 Master’s degrees and 79 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
The Vice Chancellor Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Lateef Oladimeji made this known at the Vice-Chancellor’s Press Briefing in Commemoration of the 15th Convocation Ceremonies held at the University’s Adeta Campus in Ilorin.
Prof. Oladimeji explained that the institution is committed to making modest contributions through research endeavors and partnership with relevant government and non-governmental agencies to contribute towards addressing the country’s challenges.
The first indigenous Vice – Chancellor stressed that the University’s faculty of Agriculture in Igbaja campus has continued to assist Kwara State, in particular, and Nigeria, in general, to promote food sufficiency and security.
While through the Centre for Peace and Security Studies of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin has continued to train and produce graduands who are currently working in various military and paramilitary agencies, which are aimed to assist Nigeria to address conflict situations and towards promoting national security, the Vice Chancellor stated that Al-Hikmah University College of Health Sciences is also committed to produce professionals in Health and Allied Health Science with objectives of mitigating the dearth of health professionals.
The Vice Chancellor expressed optimism that this, will no doubt assist in reversing the current trends of medical tourism and preserve the nation’s foreign exchange.
The Professor of Islamic Studies revealed that Nigeria University Commission, NUC, has given approval for Open and Distance e-Learning in Computer Science which will commence in the 2025/2026 academic session.
The convocation will hold between 7th and 8th January, 2026, with Convocation lecture to be delivered by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin on January 7.
