FUTMINNA MATRICULATES 7,529 NEWLY-ADMITTED STUDENTS

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT, Minna) matriculated 7,529 students at its 38th Matriculation Ceremony held on 16 February 2026 at the Suleimanu Kumo Convocation Square.

The Vice-Chancellor, Faruk Adamu Kuta, described the ceremony as a formal induction into the University and a significant milestone in the students’ academic journey. He noted that the newly established College of Medicine Sciences and Health Technology reflects the institution’s commitment to addressing national healthcare needs.

Out of 12,661 applicants, 11,107 participated in the screening exercise. A total of 8,134 candidates were offered admission, 7,968 accepted, and 7,529 completed registration and took the matriculation oath. The Vice-Chancellor commended the students for their merit and resilience.

He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to innovation, practical training, and academic excellence, supported by well-equipped libraries, laboratories, ICT facilities, and extracurricular opportunities. Students were reminded that degrees are awarded based on learning and character, and warned against examination malpractice and other anti-social behaviours.

Prof. Kuta further stated that, according to the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, FUT, Minna ranks 7th in Nigeria, among the top ten in West Africa, and 68th in Africa, and is one of only two Nigerian universities with an A+ institutional accreditation rating.

The Registrar, Danladi Mallam, administered the matriculation oath.
