JAMB SANCTIONS 132 CBT CENTRES OVER CANDIDATES’ DATA MISMATCH

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered data discrepancies in 132 out of the 887 approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country. These discrepancies, involving one or two candidates per centre, were identified during routine checks, prompting the board to take disciplinary action against the affected centres.

Following thorough investigations and queries, JAMB has sanctioned the centres responsible for the errors. Although the total number of affected candidates (200 out of 2,030,627) is relatively small, the board considers it unacceptable and is committed to upholding the integrity of its examination process.

Candidates who inadvertently confirmed incorrect data during registration have also been held accountable. These 200 candidates have been invited to visit any JAMB office to rectify the mismatched information. Additionally, the registration officers at the implicated centres have been permanently barred from participating in any future JAMB registration or examination-related activities.

As part of the sanctions, several CBT centres have received a final warning. The affected centres are located in the following states:

South-West: Lagos (20), Ogun (15), Ondo (4), Osun (5), Ekiti (1), Oyo (6)
South-East: Enugu (11), Ebonyi (2), Anambra (2), Imo (1)
South-South: Delta (5), Edo (2), Cross River (1), Bayelsa (1), Akwa Ibom (1), Rivers (6)
North-Central: FCT (6), Kwara (4), Benue (8), Kogi (3), Nasarawa (6), Niger (1), Plateau (2)
North-East: Adamawa (2), Borno (3), Taraba (5)
North-West: Kano (2), Kaduna (1), Katsina (1), Jigawa (3)
South-East: Abia (2)

JAMB has reiterated the need for strict adherence to registration protocols by all CBT centres to prevent such discrepancies in the future. The board remains committed to maintaining the credibility and transparency of its examination process.
