FROM DROPOUT TO FIRST CLASS GRADUATE: A JOURNEY OF PERSEVERANCE AND TRIUMPH- E.O OLADIRAN (EMMYBIZ)

A few years ago, I faced one of the toughest decisions of my life – I dropped out of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Nigeria, where I was studying Physics. It wasn’t the right fit for me, and I knew I needed a change. The decision to start over was daunting, but it turned out to be a pivotal moment in my journey.

I retook the JAMB exam, and though my score wasn’t stellar, I was fortunate that the cutoff mark was lowered that year. I gained admission into Redeemer’s University to study Computer Science, a field that ignited a new passion within me. However, not everyone shared my enthusiasm. During registration, a staff member mocked my JAMB score, questioning my choice of course. It hurt, but it also fueled my determination to prove them wrong.

Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve graduated with a First Class degree in Computer Science from Redeemer’s University. It’s a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work. Alongside my studies, I also delved into coding, gaining two years of experience as a Frontend Developer. Balancing academics and coding wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.

I’m deeply grateful to my elder brother, Tobi Oladiran, who encouraged me to start anew when things seemed bleak. His support and belief in me were instrumental in my journey.

This experience taught me a valuable lesson: setbacks don’t define us; our perseverance does. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for the next chapter. As I celebrate this milestone, I’m also exploring Frontend Developer roles where I can apply my skills, grow, and contribute to building meaningful digital experiences.

Here’s to new beginnings, growth, and the power of resilience.
