Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has confirmed the receipt of a fresh round of student loan disbursements amounting to over ₦2.03 billion, benefiting 5,924 students under the Federal Government-backed Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme.

The development was disclosed in an official communication from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayo C. Adeboye, addressed to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND in Abuja.

According to the document, the funds were released in six separate batches as part of institutional loans for the 2025/2026 academic session, reinforcing ongoing efforts to expand access to higher education through financial support mechanisms.

A breakdown of the disbursements shows that the largest batch coded UNIOSUNSL18 accounted for ₦527.6 million, benefiting 1,454 students, while subsequent batches ranged between ₦122.1 million and ₦479.4 million, disbursed between January 29 and March 9, 2026.

University authorities described the intervention as both timely and impactful, noting that the funds have significantly eased financial burdens on students and enhanced their ability to continue academic activities without disruption.

“We sincerely appreciate the timely support extended to our students by NELFUND,” the Vice-Chancellor stated, commending the agency for its responsiveness to student loan applications.
