KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY (KWASU) GETS 45 NEW PROFESSORS

The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has approved the promotion of forty-five (45) academic staff to the professorial cadre. The decision was ratified at the Council’s 78th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Of the total number, twenty (20) were promoted to full Professors, while twenty-five (25) attained the rank of Associate Professor.

The newly promoted Professors cut across several faculties. The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences produced Professor Henry Olawale Sawyerr (Environmental Health Toxicology and Risk Management). The Faculty of Agriculture produced three Professors: Olayinka Jelil Yusuf (Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology), Kayode Ayantoye (Agricultural Development and Policy), and Isaac Ade Afe (Agronomy).

The Faculty of Arts recorded four promotions: Tajudeen Yusuf (Arabic Linguistics), Saeedat Bolajoko Aliyu (Environment and Gender in African Studies), Reuben Kehinde Akano (African Literature and Cultural Studies), and Ayoola Oladunke Aransi (Yoruba Literature, Cultural and Gender Studies).

Six Professors emerged from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, including specialists in materials development, sustainable engineering, food engineering, water resources, structural engineering, and electrical power systems.

From the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Shehu Usman Adam (Environmental Economics) and Zekeri Abu (Entrepreneurial Marketing and International Business) were elevated.

The Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences produced four Professors in Food/Industrial Microbiology, Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, and Mineral Exploration/Geochemistry.

Additionally, twenty-five (25) staff were promoted to Associate Professorship across the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Management and Social Sciences, and Pure and Applied Sciences, covering diverse specialisations.
