The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has officially dismissed reports claiming that it will not admit candidates into its Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

In a statement issued on behalf of the University’s Management, the Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, described the report as false, affirming that the University is accepting applications into the MBBS programme.
According to the statement, the MBBS programme was duly included in the University’s admission advertisement for the 2026/2027 academic session, while registration for the ongoing Post-UTME and Pre-Admission Screening Exercise remains open to eligible candidates.
“The information is not true. We have advertised the MBBS programme for the 2026/2027 academic session and the registration for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME screening exercise is ongoing,” the statement read.
The clarification follows widespread speculation on social media suggesting that UNILORIN had suspended MBBS admissions for the forthcoming academic session.
Prospective applicants are therefore advised to disregard the rumour and rely only on official information released by the University.
