UNILORIN ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR 39TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY

This is to inform all graduands of the 2022/2023 Academic Session of the University that the 39th Convocation Ceremonies of the University for the award of First and Higher Degrees,Diplomas, certificates, and presentation of prizes will be held from Friday, 11th to Sunday, 27th October, 2024, on the main campus of the university.

Details of the activities are as highlighted below:

B) BRIEF FOR GRADUANDS
Graduands are kindly requested to note the following important information that:

i) The 2022/2023 Academic Session commenced on Monday, 14th December, 2023 and
ended on Thursday, 26th September, 2024.
All graduands who fall within the above dates are advised to check their names and graduation status on the list of graduands displayed
on the University Website – www.unilorin.edu.ng.
ii) It is mandatory for all graduands to pay for the following items irrespective of whether
or not they attend the Convocation Ceremonies, except otherwise indicated:
a) * Purchase of Ph.D. Academic Outfits (Mandatory
for Ph.D. graduands) – (prevailing cost)
b) Hiring of Academic Outfits (First Degrees) – N5,000.00
c) Hiring of Academic Outfits (Master and Postgraduate
Degrees) – N7,500.00
d) Order of Proceedings – N13,000.00
e) Convocation Muffler – N2,500.00
f) Student’s Copy of Transcript (Undergraduate) – N10,000.00
g) Identity Card for NYSC (Undergraduate) – N1,500.00
h) Student’s Copy of Transcript
(Master and other Postgraduate programmes) – N10,000.00
i) Convocation VCD – N2,000.00
j) Memorabilia (T-shirt, Lapel pin & Nylon carrier bag) – N15,000.00

iii) Pursuant to (ii) above, the following categories of compulsory charges are applicable to:
(a) Undergraduate Degrees: N

1. Student’s Copy of Transcript – 10,000.00

2. Certificate – 10,000.00

3. Identity Card for NYSC (Undergraduate) – 1,500.00

4. Administrative Charges – 5,000.00

iv) Order of Proceedings, Convocation gowns e.t.c. will be available for collection on Monday, 14th October 2024 in the respective Faculties and the Postgraduate School on presentation of evidence of payment of appropriate charges. While certificates shall be distributed from the Convocation Day based on the return of academic gowns at the various Faculties and the Postgraduate School.
v) Graduands are expected to attend a rehearsal of the Academic Procession, which will hold at
3.00 p.m. on Thursday, 17
th October, 2024 at the University Auditorium after the ViceChancellor’s Press briefing.
vi) It is compulsory for all graduands who will attend the Convocation Ceremony to participate in the Academic Procession and wear the approved academic outfits.
vii) All graduands are expected to be formally dressed in full English wear (i.e. suit, shirt and tie
for men and skirt suit/skirt and blouse or gown for ladies) OR full national dress.
viii) All hired gowns should be returned by the graduands to their respective Faculty Officers not
later than Friday, 25th October, 2024. Gowns returned after that date will attract a fine of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only per day.

C) MODE OF PAYMENT
i) Graduands should make their payments with Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Cards. The
ATM cards acceptable for use are Master and Visa cards. Each graduand should ensure that the amount in their accounts is up to the value of the required convocation charges and
prevailing bank charges before logging into the “Unilorin Convocation Portal” for payment.
Based on iii (a – c), above, First Degree graduands are to pay a total sum of Twenty-six
Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N26,500.00) only, Higher Degree graduands (excluding
Ph.D.) Twenty-five Thousand Naira (N25,000.00), while Ph.D. graduands are to pay
Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000.00) only. Candidates would be expected to pay the
prevailing bank charges in addition to the original charges.
Payment for the Convocation materials in ii (a – i) and iii (a – c) above shall commence from
Wednesday, 25th September, 2024.

D) PROCUREMENT OF ACADEMIC GOWNS
Please note that purchase of the University’s academic gown is mandatory for Ph.D. graduands only and are expected to contact the office below for the purchase of academic
gowns:

) OTHER REQUIREMENT
All graduands are expected to download from the University website the Google Form of the
University of Ilorin Alumni Association, save evidence of the filled form on their phones as
compliance.
