As part of the efforts to ensure a seamless 2024 Direct Entry registration, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has put in place a series of critical and practical measures aimed at further fine-tuning the exercise. The Board, at a virtual meeting with the Nigeria Integrated Secondary Education Data System(NIPEDS), the JAMB Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) and service providers held on Wednesday, 12th March, 2024, said the various measures were aimed at perfecting and addressing some challenges and issues arising from the ongoing 2024 DE registration exercise nationwide.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Chairman, NIPEDS, Prof. Yahuza Bello, commended the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede for his passion and commitment to education, particularly as it relates to the selection of top-notch candidates for admission into tertiary institutions. Prof. Bello expressed appreciation to the Registrar for his support and his timely response to addressing some teething problems associated with the verification of A’level results and other concerns as they relate to DE registration. Earlier, while declaring open the meeting, the Registrar cautioned PRCs to work according to guidelines and laid down rules and regulations governing the registration exercise. He urged them to work with the institutional lists made available to them, adding that the names must be in line with the ones emanating from JAMB. In essence, the names regiatered with JAMB mustcorrespond with those provided by the institutions, like IJMB, JUPEB, etc. While warning against criminal alterations of candidates’ data, he stressed that whatever is approved for institutions is what they should upload.
The Registrar also reminded the PRCs to ensure that they uploaded the appropriate statement of results and the approved year of graduation. He stated that for the years 2021, 2022, 2023, statements of results can be accepted in lieu of certificates while awaiting result status is only admissible with respect toapplications emanating specifically from 2024 graduates.
In his contribution, the IT Consultant, Mr. Damilola Bamiro said with respect to questions on qualifications, the Board had listed 12 A’ level qualifications for consideration for DE registration and advised applicants to take cognisance of the series of advertisements in both print and social media on the 2024 DE registration.Furthermore, he disclosed that as a proactive body, the Board had resolved various issues arising from previous registration exercises.
