JAMB RELEASES 2023 UTME REGISTRATION STATISTICS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) gave a breakdown of registration for this year’s UTME in its weekly bulletin released on Monday.

Data by the board showed Lagos had the highest registration with 270,573 candidates followed by Oyo and Ogun with 94,911 and 91,970 respectively.

Rivers came fourth on the log with 80,119 candidates while Kaduna completed the top five states with 79,478.

The data also showed that Zamfara, Yobe, and Ebonyi states had the least number of registration for this year’s UTME.

A total of 4,988 candidates registered for the exam in Zamfara while Yobe and Ebonyi had 10,522 and 11,172 candidates respectively.

The board said a total of 1.6 million candidates registered for this year’s UTME at the close of the exercise.

“At the close of the registration exercise, about 1.6m candidates had successfully registered for the 2023 UTME. This number does not include the direct entry component of the exercise, which had commenced on Monday, 20th February, 2023 before it was put on hold on Tuesday, 21st February, 2023,” it said.

JAMB had originally fixed February 14 as the deadline for the 2023 UTME registration.

But the board later extended the deadline to February 22 to accommodate more candidates.
