JAMB SUSPENDS LAW PROGRAMME ADMISSION AT FOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially declared the suspension of the Law programme at Fountain University, Osogbo, for the upcoming 2025/26 academic session.

This decision, announced on January 31, 2025, follows a recent notification from the Council of Legal Education (CLE), which flagged several institutions, including Fountain University, as ineligible to admit new students into their law faculties.

As a result, Fountain University joins a growing list of Nigerian universities where JAMB will not facilitate Law programme admissions for the next academic cycle. The CLE’s decision is part of an ongoing effort to ensure the quality and credibility of legal education in the country.

Prior to Fountain University, JAMB had already suspended admission processing for the Law faculties of eight other universities, including Kwara State University, Bingham University, Redeemers University, and several others.

In the statement, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, clarified that the suspension for the Nigerian Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, will be in place for two consecutive academic sessions—the 2025/26 and 2026/27 academic years—based on the CLE’s ruling.
