Three hundred and eighty-seven (387) engineers who recently graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Kwara State University (KWASU), were inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) on Monday, December 16, 2024.
The induction took place during the Graduate Membership Induction Ceremony and Public Lecture where the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba noted that KWASU’s collaboration with the Nigerian Society of Engineers reflects the university’s commitment to fostering professionalism among its students and alumni.
The Chairman of the NSE Ilorin Branch, Dr. O.A. Ogunjirin, FNSE, in his address, advocated for the continuity of institution-based inductions. He stated that inducting new engineering graduates as graduate members of the Society signals the start of brilliant careers.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Bilyamin Adeoye Ibitoye, mentioned that the new graduate members were from the six (6) departments in the Faculty, namely: the Department of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, the Department of Material Science Engineering, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The best graduating student from each department received an award of excellence from the NSE with Immanuel Osayi Ulinfun of the Department of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, receiving the overall best graduating student award.
Other executives of the Ilorin Branch were present to conduct the oath-taking ceremony before the new graduate members were inducted into the prestigious professional society.
