A total of 9,313 fresh students were this morning matriculated into the various degree programmes of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Razaq, Olatunde Rom Kalilu, on the occasion, congratulated the students, saying not everyone admitted got to this point, as some that were provisionally admitted like you had their admissions revoked for various reasons.
He told them that, “you were on provisional admission until you took the Oath of allegiance and signed the Matriculation Oath some moments ago.
“You are now full fledge students of the University and the University is ever ready to provide the enabling environment for you to be the best as its students.
He advised that you should, however, note that there are rules, regulations and laws that govern the University and consequently the behaviour and conduct of members of the University community.
He urged them to abide by the rules, adding that “this is necessary for peaceful co-existence and progress of the University as well as for you to remain students to complete the programmes for which you have been admitted.
According to him, “I need to remind you that the University has unique curricula that requires all students admitted into Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Nursing Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degree programmes of this University to have sound and solid foundation in the core science subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as well as Fundamental of Drawing.
He explained that “some of our brilliant students have taken advantage of the peculiarity of our curricula and this has assisted them in building a solid foundation of their academic excellence during their study. You are to also note that your academic career started this semester, you should therefore always set your priorities right.
Kalilu noted that the main purpose of their being here is for the advancement of your academic opportunities, and that every other engagement should be regarded as extra-curricular activities, and which should be so handled.
He said the motto of this University is “Excellence, Integrity and Service” therefore, and added that all operations of the University are geared towards the training the total person.
The Vice-Chancellor admonished them, “As you join this community, make it your goal to contribute your own quota to the growth and development of the University.
He advised them to stay clear of all antisocial tendencies, calling their attentions to the existence ofgood students’ clubs and societies that promote wholesome development that you can join and associate within the University.
Professor Kalilu urged them to avoid all unregistered groups. Keeping this University free from all forms of cultism is a task that the University handles with all seriousness.
“You are also advised to be security conscious in all your dealings and interactions considering the various security challenges facing the nation.
He charged them not to hesitate to report any suspicious activities to the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, the security officers and the different appropriate University offices and officers for their immediate action. Security is our collective responsibility.
The Vice-Chancellor announced that Adedigba Ismail Shola of the Faculty of Nursing Science was the best 100 Level student for the year 2022/2023 academic session.
