MAPOLY VERIFICATION EXERCISE FLAGS 49 STUDENTS FOR ALLEGED FAKE RESULTS

The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has flagged 49 Higher National Diploma (HND) final-year students for alleged submission of fake National Diploma (ND) results. This development came to light during a comprehensive result verification exercise carried out by the institution.

According to an official statement from the polytechnic, the affected students, spanning departments such as Mass Communication, Pharmaceutical Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, Computer Science, Marketing, and Accountancy, are under investigation for presenting falsified documents during their admission into the HND programs.

The results in question reportedly originated from various institutions, including The Polytechnic, Ibadan; The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa; and Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, all located in Oyo State.

MAPOLY’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, clarified that the exercise was a standard institutional process aimed at ensuring the authenticity of all academic credentials. “Our internal mechanisms are designed to verify every document submitted by students. While some results are pending confirmation due to delays from the issuing institutions, others have been outrightly flagged as fake,” Ajibola stated.

He attributed the delay in verification to administrative challenges but assured that efforts were underway to clear the backlog.

In a bid to ensure fairness, the institution will not proceed with immediate expulsion. Instead, affected students will be invited to defend their credentials. “Each student involved will have the chance to substantiate their claims. In cases of errors on our part, corrections will be made. However, students unable to validate their results will face expulsion,” Ajibola explained.
