ROYAL PRINCE EMERGES AS 36TH UNILORIN SU PRESIDENT-ELECT; BALOGUN AND 7 OTHERS JOIN EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

Joseph Adesunkanmi Ologundudu, a fourth-year student from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ilorin, has been declared the 36th President-elect of the University’s Student Union. The UNILORIN Electoral Commission, led by Comrade Ajayi Ademola, announced the results early on Saturday, August 19, 2023.
Ologundudu clinched victory in a closely contested election, securing a total of 3013 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Hawau Tanimola Usman (Faculty of Law), who garnered 2527 votes. Following behind were Qudus Adebayo Owoyemi (Faculty of Physical Sciences) with 752 votes and Precious Samuel Ibuoye (Faculty of Social Sciences) with 631 votes.
The newly elected President-elect previously served as the 35th General Secretary of the Union.
Among the winners are:

  • Vice President, Permanent Site: Rodiyah Oyeronke Adegoke
  • General Secretary: Shukurat Oluwadamilola Zuluqarnaini
  • Assistant General Secretary: Stephanie Oluwatonisin Afolayan
  • Public Relations Officer (PRO): Oluwatobi Joseph Atolagbe
  • Financial Secretary: Victor Oghenetega Agezeh
  • Social Secretary: Abdullahi Oladipupo Balogun
  • Sports Secretary: Habeebulah Damilare Salaudeen
  • Welfare Secretary: Emmanuel Mayowa Afolabi
    Additionally, the election marked the selection of 51 Senate (SRC) members representing various faculties and six hostel representatives from both male and female hostels within the University.

The election was carried out by the 2021/2022 UNILORIN Electoral Commission under the guidance of the Student Affairs Unit.
