The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has released the schedule for its 55th convocation ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Preparations for the convocation will commence on Wednesday, January 8th to Friday, January 10th, 2025. The preparation week will begin with a pre-convocation conference led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola.
An opening exhibition will be held on Monday, January 13th, 2025. This will be followed immediately by a convocation lecture, featuring Dr. Tayo Aduloju, CEO, Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), as the guest lecturer. His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, will chair the event.
The convocation ceremony will officially begin on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at the J.F. Ade. Ajayi Auditorium, UNILAG.
According to the press release, the ceremony is divided into two sessions: morning and afternoon.
On the first day of the convocation, the morning session will see the award of First Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, and Prizes to graduating students from the Faculties of Education and Social Sciences. The afternoon session will cover the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Sciences, and Science (9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively). This will be followed by hooding ceremonies for Bachelor’s Degree Graduates in the Faculties/Institute of: Engineering, Law, Management Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy, and the Distance Learning Institute (DLI).
The second day of the convocation, Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, will see the award of degrees and certificates for the Faculty of Engineering, Law, and Management Sciences in the morning session, and for Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy, and the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) in the afternoon session. A Hooding Ceremony will then follow for Higher Degrees from the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) and the University of Lagos Business School (ULBS).
The third day, Thursday, January 16th, 2025, will be dedicated to the award of postgraduate diplomas, Master’s Degrees, and Ph.D. Degrees, including the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS); Master’s Degrees from the University of Lagos Business School (ULBS); and the Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees.
The University management urged the university community, graduating students, parents, guardians, and the public to take note of this schedule.
