The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Kwara State University (KWASU) chapters, have staged a demonstration over what they described as an unacceptable salary structure imposed by the Federal Government.

The unions alleged systemic marginalisation in the ongoing salary review process, insisting that non-academic staff deserve equal treatment as enjoyed by their academic counterparts.
They condemned the proposed 30 percent salary adjustment, demanding full implementation of the 40 percent increment earlier proposed for members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
As part of efforts to strengthen compliance, the unions’ executives visited key campuses and centres of the university, including the main campus in Malete, Osi Campus, KWASU Teaching Hospital in Ilorin, and the KWASU Contact Centre.
Speaking with journalists, the SSANU Chairman, Comrade Abdulsalam Jimoh Kannike, and the NASU Chairman, Comrade Atere Baba Sheu, expressed dissatisfaction with the current salary structure and reaffirmed their commitment to the ongoing industrial action.
They urged members to remain steadfast and resolute until their demands are considered, emphasising that non-academic staff must receive fair and equitable treatment within the university system.
He further lamented the alienation of the non-teaching personnel in terms of remunerations and other working conditions, stressing that the non-academic staff are vital the growth and development of the university community.
The unions’ leaders thereby eulogised their members for their unwavering cooperation and commitment in sustaining the industrial action.
