FUMMSA 2026/2027 Admission Requirements and Post-UTME Guidelines (Cut-Off Mark, Eligibility & Screening Details)

The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA) has released the official admission requirements for the 2026/2027 academic session. Prospective candidates seeking admission into any undergraduate programme at the university are expected to meet specific academic and age criteria, as well as participate in the Post-UTME screening exercise.

To be eligible for admission into FUMMSA, candidates must have scored a minimum of 200 and above in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Applicants are also required to have selected FUMMSA as their first-choice institution during their JAMB registration. In addition, candidates must be at least 16 years of age on or before 30 September 2026, in line with national admission guidelines.

Academic qualification is a key requirement for all applicants. Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant O’Level subjects, which must include Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and Physics. For highly competitive programmes such as Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Pharmacy, and Dental Surgery, candidates must obtain these five credits at one sitting only. However, for other programmes offered by the university, O’Level results obtained in not more than two sittings will be accepted. It is important to note that only results from recognized examination bodies, namely WAEC and NECO, will be considered valid for admission.

Candidates who meet the basic eligibility criteria will be required to participate in the FUMMSA Post-UTME (PUTME) screening exercise, which serves as part of the final admission selection process. The university will announce the official commencement date for registration and application on its website, and applicants are advised to regularly check for updates and official announcements to avoid missing deadlines.

As part of the application process, candidates are expected to pay a total fee through the university’s official admission portal via Remita. This includes ₦2,000 for the Post-UTME screening application and ₦4,000 for portal access. All payments must be completed strictly through the designated university platform, as no alternative payment channels are authorized.

The FUMMSA admission screening process is structured to ensure fairness and merit-based selection. The Post-UTME screening carries a total score of 100 marks, which is calculated based on a combination of performance in the UTME and O’Level results. Specifically, 50% of the score is derived from UTME performance, while the remaining 50% is based on O’Level grades. The final aggregate score is used to determine admission eligibility and programme cut-off marks across all departments.

Applicants are strongly advised to take note that all admission-related transactions, registrations, and payments must be carried out exclusively on the official FUMMSA portal. The university has not appointed any agents for admission purposes, and candidates are warned to avoid fraudulent individuals or platforms requesting payment into private accounts. Any unauthorized dealings should be reported immediately, as the institution maintains a strict policy against admission fraud.

In conclusion, prospective students are encouraged to carefully review the requirements and prepare adequately for the screening exercise to improve their chances of gaining admission into one of Nigeria’s emerging medical and health sciences universities.
