The long-awaited disbursement of students’ upkeep allowances under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is set to resume next week following the completion of an upgrade of the payment platform.

The announcement was made by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olushola Oladoja (BABTEE), who disclosed that the technical upgrade, which temporarily delayed payments, has now been successfully concluded.
According to the NANS President, the disbursement of upkeep allowances will commence between Monday and Friday next week, with beneficiaries expected to receive all outstanding payments owed to them.
He explained that the payments would cover every month for which eligible students are yet to receive their upkeep allowance, assuring beneficiaries that no outstanding entitlement would be left unpaid.
Oladoja expressed appreciation to Nigerian students for their patience and understanding throughout the period of delay, describing their cooperation as instrumental while efforts were being made to improve the efficiency of the payment system.
He further reaffirmed the commitment of NANS to working closely with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to ensure that students’ entitlements are disbursed promptly and without unnecessary interruptions in the future.
The planned resumption of payments is expected to bring relief to thousands of students across tertiary institutions who rely on the monthly upkeep allowance to support their academic and living expenses.
