UNILORIN APPOINTS 13 NEW PROFESSORS ACROSS VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced the appointment of 13 new Professors across various academic departments of the institution.

The newly appointed Professors cut across the Faculties of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences/Health-related disciplines, Arts, Education and other academic areas, further strengthening the university’s senior academic cadre.

According to the university’s official publication, the new Professors are:
Dr. Mary O. Ologe – Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics
Dr. Hafsat A. Ameen – Department of Epidemiology & Community Health
Dr. Oluwabunmi I. N. Buhari – Department of Behavioural Sciences
Dr. A. Saidu – Department of Arts Education
Dr. Aminat A. Odebode – Department of Counsellor Education
Dr. Falilat A. Okesina – Department of Counsellor Education
Dr. A. T. Muritala – Department of Education Management
Dr. A. A. Lawal – Department of Education Management
Dr. A. A. Atolagbe – Department of Education Management
Dr. O. J. Ojo – Department of Education Management
Dr. A. A. Tijani – Department of Education Management
Dr. A. M. Akanmu – Department of Science Education
Dr. S. T. Abdullahi – Department of Pharmaceutical & Medical Chemistry

The development adds to the university’s recent record of elevating senior academic staff to the highest academic rank. In April 2026, UNILORIN announced that its Governing Council had approved the promotion of 43 academic staff to the rank of Professor, following recommendations from the Appointments and Promotions Committee.

The newly appointed Professors are expected to contribute further to teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, academic leadership and the overall development of the University of Ilorin.
