The University of Ilorin Independent Students’ Electoral Commission (UISEC) has officially lifted the ban on campaign activities for the forthcoming 2025/2026 Students’ Union elections, paving the way for aspirants to begin canvassing support.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the electoral body announced that all qualified candidates are now permitted to commence legitimate campaign activities in line with the commission’s electoral guidelines and the regulations of the University of Ilorin.
UISEC emphasized that all campaigns must be conducted peacefully, responsibly, and in strict compliance with established electoral rules to ensure a credible and hitch-free election process.
The commission also unveiled the list of documents required from aspirants seeking elective positions in the upcoming elections. According to UISEC, nomination forms must be submitted alongside the following:
– Candidate Electoral Form and a photocopy of the form.
– Letter of recommendation duly signed by the candidate and a Level Adviser or any lecturer in the department.
– Photocopy of the student’s identity card.
– School fees receipt.
– Original payment receipt.
– Course registration forms for all academic sessions.
– Academic transcripts or result spreadsheets for all academic sessions.
– Two recent passport photographs.
– Personal details printed from the student portal.
– A coloured copy of the campaign banner on A4 paper.
– A copy of a resignation letter, duly signed and stamped, for aspirants currently holding any office.
UISEC further directed all interested aspirants to report to the UISEC Secretariat, located at the first block of the Students’ Affairs Unit, no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, to obtain their nomination forms.
The announcement marks the official commencement of the campaign season and signals the beginning of activities leading to one of the most anticipated student elections on the University of Ilorin campus.
