The West African Examinations Council has announced a major transition in its examination administration process, revealing that physical Result Checker PIN cards will no longer be issued to candidates participating in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.

According to the examination body, the development forms part of ongoing innovations aimed at improving educational assessment processes and strengthening examination integrity through technology-driven systems.
WAEC stated that it is gradually transitioning from the traditional electronic attendance system based on smart cards to a biometric attendance verification model. As a result, the conventional smart cards previously issued to candidates which also contained Result Checker PINs will no longer be available for the ongoing 2026 WASSCE.
Despite the discontinuation of the physical PIN cards, the Council assured candidates that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure seamless access to result checker details once results are released.
Adequate provision has been made for candidates to access their Result Checker PINs in order to seamlessly check their results upon release. Therefore, kindly inform candidates to visit: serial-pin.waec.org online, and input their examination details to access the Result Checker PIN.
