Senate at its 257th meeting held on Thursday, 23rd July, 2026 deliberated on a directive received by the University from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) in respect of non-admission into some programmes in the 2026/2027 Admissions, as listed below:
1) Medicine and Surgery
2) Dentistry
3) Medical Laboratory Science
Consequently, all candidates who applied to the University to study in these programmes in the 2026/2027 session are by this circular advised to proceed to JAMB and process a change of programme into any other related programme. The JAMB window for Change of Programme is open until 31st July, 2026.
It is important to note that the University of Calabar is not the only University affected by this directive. The directive was also extended to three (3) other Universities.
