Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has approved the appointment of Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba and Professor Shehu Usman Adam as Deputy Vice-Chancellors of the institution.
The appointments were ratified by the University’s Governing Council following nominations made by the Senate during its 67th Special Meeting held on July 30, 2026.
According to appointment letters dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo Wasilah Sallee, the two appointments will run for a period of two years, beginning on August 13, 2026.
Professor Moshood Jimba Reappointed DVC Administration
Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba has been reappointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, following the completion of his first two-year tenure in the position.
A Professor of Arabic Language and Literature, Jimba joined the service of KWASU in 2012 and has held several academic and administrative positions within the university.
His previous roles include Head of Department, Director of the Centre for Ilorin Manuscripts, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies. He was first appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, in 2024.
Beyond the university, Professor Jimba has also served as Chairman of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board. In 2023, he was appointed by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as Chairman of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, a position he currently occupies.
Shehu Usman Adam Emerges DVC Academic
Professor Shehu Usman Adam has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic.
Before his new appointment, Professor Adam served as the Director of Consultancy Services at KWASU. He had previously served as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences.
He joined KWASU in 2022 as an Associate Professor and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Professor on October 1, 2025.
Professor Adam holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
His appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, places him in charge of a key aspect of the university’s academic administration as KWASU continues to strengthen its academic and institutional development.
New KWASU DVCs Begin Two-Year Tenure
The appointments of Professors Jimba and Adam take effect from August 13, 2026, and will last for two years.
The appointments are expected to further support the university’s administrative and academic leadership under the current management of Kwara State University, Malete.
