The Kwara State College of Nursing Sciences, Oke-Ode (KWCONOO) has secured approval from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to commence Public Health Nursing and Community Midwifery programmes, expanding its healthcare training opportunities.
The approval followed a successful accreditation exercise conducted by the NMCN after the College satisfied all the required standards. According to the Provost, Alhaji Olanrewaju AbdulQuadri, the institution is already putting measures in place to commence admissions through partnerships with non-governmental organisations, local government sponsorship schemes, and self-sponsored applicants.
Prospective candidates seeking admission into the two-year Community Midwifery programme are not required to sit for the JAMB UTME. Applicants with the required O’Level science qualifications can apply directly once admissions commence. Registered Nurses who meet the admission requirements will also be eligible to apply for the Post-Basic Public Health Nursing programme.
Graduates of the Community Midwifery programme will earn the Licensed Community Midwife (LCM) qualification, while successful graduates of the Public Health Nursing programme will receive the Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN) qualification.
The College stated that details on admission procedures, application dates, and programme commencement will be announced through its official communication channels.
