JAMB ENDS 2026 UTME EXERCISE, ABSENTEES SHUT OUT

The curtain has fallen on the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) concluded both the main examination and its mop-up exercise, effectively ending all opportunities for candidates to participate in this year’s examination.

The examination, earlier scheduled to run from April 16 to April 25, was conducted nationwide and, according to the Board, recorded a largely successful outing despite minor technical disruptions in some centres. In earlier reports, the Board had fixed the examination within this window, a schedule that was fully implemented with the successful completion of all sessions.

However, with the full conclusion of the examination, indications are that candidates who failed to sit for the UTME or were absent without valid, verified reasons will not be given another opportunity.

This development effectively closes the window for participation in the 2026 UTME, signaling the end of all examination-related activities for this cycle.

With the conclusion of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), attention has now shifted to the commencement of the admission process, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced May 11, 2026, for its annual policy meeting and sixth edition of NATAP-M awards.

The awards are designed to recognize excellence, transparency, and accountability among institutions and stakeholders within the admission process. The twin events are expected to set the tone for the 2026 admission exercise, providing clarity on institutional benchmarks and reinforcing best practices across the system.
